Role Summary
The Data Architect will define and implement the architecture that underpins Klarus AI’s data ecosystem. You will design scalable data models, build robust pipelines and storage strategies, and ensure data is reliable, secure, and accessible across the organisation.
Working closely with engineering, data science, product, and leadership, you will shape how data is structured, governed, and leveraged to support both operational systems and advanced analytics.
This is a hands-on architecture role combining technical design, data platform strategy, and cross-team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture and Platform Design
- Design and maintain Klarus AI’s end-to-end data architecture, including ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving layers.
- Define data models, schemas, and standards to support scalable analytics and machine learning.
- Architect and optimise data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouse solutions – leveraging automation-first approaches to accelerate the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure systems are scalable, performant, and resilient as data volumes grow.
- Drive architectural governance processes to align cross-functional teams on design decisions and technical standards.
Data Engineering and Infrastructure
- Partner with engineering teams to implement reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Select and implement appropriate data technologies and tooling across modern cloud ecosystems.
- Optimise storage, query performance, and data access patterns.
- Identify and embed emerging technologies including AI-assisted tooling to improve engineering throughput and reduce delivery overhead.
Data Governance and Quality
- Establish data governance frameworks, including ownership, lineage, quality standards, and data trust.
- Implement strategies for data integrity, observability, and monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with data security and privacy requirements, including robust access controls at enterprise scale.
- Establish a culture of building trusted platforms that enable confident decision-making.
Collaboration and Strategy
- Work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, product teams, and leadership to align data architecture with product goals.
- Translate business and AI requirements into robust technical data designs.
- Act as a technical authority on data architecture within the organisation.
- Contribute to long-term business strategy by promoting an AI-first and deliver-more-with-less mindset.
- Actively look out for opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within the data platform to unlock efficiency, scalability, and competitive advantage.
Must-Have Experience
7+ years working in data engineering, data architecture, or data platform roles.
Strong experience designing scalable data and AI architectures in cloud environments.
Expertise in modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift).
Experience building data pipelines and processing frameworks with strong SQL and data modelling expertise.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Familiarity with data governance, security, and privacy best practices.
